“Do what you love and let it kill you.” – Charles Bukowski
Josh Straiton has been investigating all forms of physical training since he was 13 years old. His weight obsession began with two of his Mom’s pink 3lb DB’s and hundreds and hundreds of curls, triceps Extensions, push-ups, and sit-ups. Slowly his passion grew into other iron sports like powerlifting, weightlifting, strongman, and crossfit. He began training people out of his garage at the age of 16, testing the different approaches to fitness over the years. After high school he studied Exercise Science at the University of Connecticut and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). During his time at UCONN he competed in various iron sports like Powerlifting (best lifts 475 squat / 365 bench / 515 Deadlift @ 165-170lbs), Weightlifting (Snatch 118kg / Clean and Jerk 143 kg), Strongman, and Crossfit.
Slowly his training philosophies changed as he started to incorporate the practices of yoga, Jiu Jitsu, gymnastics to balance the body after years of strength training. His goal as a coach is to help clients destroy the weakness in their bodies so that the can continue moving forward with training preventing injuries and plateaus. This wholistic approach leads to balance and strength in a way most people have never experienced before. Josh firmly believes in the connection of body to mind, and is constantly investigating how improving that connection can improve your life.
